Marty the motorcycling Giraffe Story 33 Marty and the bad men

Marty the motorcycling Giraffe

Story 33 Marty and the bad men

One day as they were busy cleaning windows Marty and Peter heard a very posh voice calling up to them

“Good afternoon, Marty and Peter and how are you both, on this fine day?”

Marty and Peter stopped work and looked down to see the posh lady, whose kitten they had once rescued, after he got being stuck on top of a tall building.

“Jambo, sisi ni nzuri sana! Habari gani?”  (Hello, we are very well! How are you?) Replied Mary and Peter

Marty and Peter stopped work for a few minutes to chat to the posh lady and to introduce her to Victor their new trainee.

The posh lady told them that her kitten has grown up to be quite a big cat and how she will always be grateful to them for rescuing him.

“Any way I must be on my way and let you fine young men and giraffe get on with your very important work”

“Kwahari” replied Marty, Peter and Victor as they went back to cleaning windows.

A few seconds later a loud scream filled the air. Marty, Peter and Victor turned around to see two bad men push the posh lady to the ground and steel her hand bag.

“Oy! Stop thieves” shouted Peter.

A police officer, who was quite near, heard this and started to run to the scene of the crime, but the two bad men jumped on their bicycles and started to pedal away very fast and the police officer could not  keep up with them,.

Marty jumped on to his motorcycle and shouted to the police officer

“Get on the back of my motorcycle we can soon catch up with them”

So the police officer climbed onto the back of Marty’s motorcycle and soon they were whizzing through the streets, chasing after the bad men, while Peter and Victor went to look after the posh lady.

The bad men were still a head of Marty and the police officer when they turned into an old industrial estate with lots of disused warehouses; the two bad men jumped off their bicycles and ran into one of the warehouses to hide.

Marty stopped his motorcycle and the police officer got off the back of the motorcycle and went to look inside the warehouses.

“There are lots of different stairs to different floors in here” shouted the Police officer “I think they must have run and hid in one of the room upstairs, but I don’t know which one”

“I think I can help there” said Marty with a sly grin, and he sneaked up to the building and stretched his neck to start peeking in through the upstairs window.

He looked into the first  two windows but there was no one in these rooms, and then he looked into the third widow and saw the two bad men crouched down hiding behind and old store cupboard.

“They are in this room” whispered Marty to the police office

The police officer than ran upstairs and shouted to the men, that they were not to move and to lie down on the floor!!

This confused the bad men as they didn’t know how they could lie on the floor without moving!!

The police officer then put the bad men’s hand into hand cuffs and led them down the stairs.

“You will be going to jail for this” said the police officer “and you will not be robbing anybody in the streets of Nairobi again”

The two bad men looked very sad as the police officer took them away.

Marty picked up the posh lady’s hand bag and rode his motorcycle back to where Peter and Victor were looking after the posh lady.

“Oh asante sana” said the posh lady, when Marty gave the handbag back to her.

“You have all been so nice to me” she added “that I will take you all to the best steak house in town and buy you all a very big dinner”

So off they went to a very posh restaurant for their dinner. Peter and Victor both ordered the biggest steaks you could imagine, but as you know Marty doesn’t eat that sort of food and just had a big pile of his very favourite “twigs and leafs”

Mary enjoyed his meal and was very glad that he helped the police officer catch the bad men and get the posh lady’s hand bag back for her, and he thought that today was quite an adventure, but couldn’t stop himself from wondering what the next adventure could be for

Marty the motorcycling giraffe Story 32 Marty and the runaway truck

Marty the motorcycling Giraffe

Story 32 Marty and the runaway truck

As you know Marty the motorcycling giraffe works as a window cleaner’s assistant in the big African city of Nairobi.

Marty works with his very good friend Peter, the window cleaner, and with the Victor the trainee window cleaner.

One morning Peter left Marty and Victor working together on cleaning the windows as he had to go to an important business meeting.

Marty liked working with Victor, although Victor was sometimes a little excitable and over enthusiastic and Marty thought that he needs to calm down a bit before he could become a fully trained window cleaner.

“But he is a hard worker and we do get the windows cleaned quicker with his help” Marty thought to himself.

Later that day, Peter cam back to work and called to Marty and Victor to stop cleaning windows as he had something very important to tell them.

“Since young Victor has joined the team we have been able to get the windows cleaned a lot quicker than when it was just me and Marty” said Peter “which means we often have some spare time by the end of the week.

Marty and Victor smiled at the thought of the spare time they had, Marty likes to use his spare time by going for a quick whizz around on his motorcycle, while Victor likes to lie in the sun listening to music.

“Well” continued Peter “ have been meeting with Mr Makuchi, who owns a transport company, and by the end of the week Mr Makuchi’s trucks are all very dirty, inside and out. I have got a contract to wash and clean the trucks every Friday afternoon”.

Marty and Victor felt a little gloomy at the thought of losing their free time. But then Peter added

“It’s a good contract and it means that both of you will get extra wages”

The prospect of being paid more money certainly cheered Marty and Victor up

“When do we start the new job?” asked Marty

“This Friday at 1 pm” replied Peter.

On Friday, after Marty, Peter and Victor had finished there lunch, they al went to Mr Makushi’s yard. Peter and Victor went in Peter’s truck and Marty of course followed behind on his motorcycle.

At the transport yard, which was on the top of a very steep hill, Mr Makuchi showed Marty, Peter and Victor four very dirty trucks that badly needed cleaning.

“Victor, you start cleaning the inside of the trucks’ cabs” instructed Peter “and me and Marty will wash the outsides”.

Marty and Peter high powered pressure hosepipes to wash the thick mud from the outside of the trucks and then used their widow clothes to polish them and make the trucks very nice and shiny.

At the same time Victor worked on leaning the inside of the cabs out, first he took all the rubbish out and then  he started wipe down the seats, the dashboards and the inside of the windows.

As Victor leaned forward in one of the cabs, to clean the inside of the windscreen, he did not notice that he had put his foot on the handbrake leaver, pushing it down and turning the hand break off,

As he wiped the windscreen the truck started to roll forward, out of the yard and down the hill!

“Victor!” shouted Marty and Peter “the truck is moving

Victor was very scared and didn’t know what to do, as he doesn’t know how to drive a truck, so he leapt out of the cab and fell heavily to the ground

But the truck, with its floor flapping open, carried on rolling down the hill and started to get faster and faster and was heading in the direction of the children’s playground at the bottom of the hill.

As quick as a flash of lightning, Marty and Peter jumped onto Marty’s motorcycle.

“Follow that truck” shouted Peter and Marty revved up his motorcycle and shot after the truck as fat as he could go.

Soon Marty and Peter were alongside the truck that was now going very fast indeed and getting closer and closer to the playground where the children were happily playing.

The children’s mothers saw the truck and started to shout at the children to run away.

Peter stood up on the back of Marty’s motorcycle and bravely leapt through the open door and into the trucks cab.

Peter then slammed on the truck’s brakes as hard as he could.

The truck screeched and skidded and finally came to a halt just a few yards from the playground

All the mothers and the children rushed up to Marty and Peter and to thank them for stopping the truck and making sure they  were all safe.

“yako ni jasiri sana, wako ni mashujaa” (you are very brave, you are heroes) shouted the Mothers.

“Hakuna matata”   Mary and Peter replied modestly.

Peter then drove the truck back to the yard and Marty followed on his motorcycle.

Victor was waiting in the yard looking very embarrassed and rubbing his bruises, he got when he jumped out of the truck.

“You must be more careful” scolded Peter

“Sorry” replied Victor “I will be more careful in the future”.

“He has done a very good job, cleaning my trucks though” said Mr Makuchi, “you must have all worked very hard, I have never seen my trucks looking so clean,

It was then time for Marty, Peter and Victor to go home, and as he got onto his motorcycle Marty felt very pleased that he and Peter had been heroes and that they had stopped the truck crashing into the children’s playground, he was also very happy with his extra money he had earned, and off he whizzed in his motorcycle wondering what the next adventure would be for

Marty the Motorcycling Giraffe Story 31 marty visits Peru part 2 Marty goes to the lost city of Machu Pichu

Marty the Motorcycling Giraffe

Story 31 Marty visits Peru, part 2 Marty goes to the lost city of Machu Pichu

Marty is on a very exciting adventure, Marty is climbing up the mountains in Peru to see the “Machu Pichu” the lost city of the Incas.

The first couple of days on the climb were very exciting and Marty got to fly in a paraglider before camping for the night on the side of the mountain,

Marty and his fellow adventures (Jean Pierre from France, Andy from the USA and Jean-Pierre from France) and their guide Manolito, were all up very early the next morning.

They were all very excited because today they were going to reach the top of the mountain and the ruins of the lost city of Machu Puichu.

After they had eaten their breakfast and packed up their tents, Manolito explained to them about the then hard day’s trek they had in front of them to get to the top of the mountain, and how wonderful a place Machu Pichu is.

It was as a long hard trek as the four adventurers climbed up the mountain through the clouds and by this time they had all become very good friends.

Andy told the others that back at home in Boston USA, he is a professional American footballer and plays for the New England Patriots and has the sporting nickname of the Birdman.

“If any of ever come to America, I can get you free tickets for the big game “Said Andy.

Jean Pierre informed the group that he runs a restaurant on the “champs Elysses” in Paris. “You get a great view of the Eifel tower while you eat your dinner” exclaimed Jean Pierre “and if you come to Paris the dinner is on the house”

“Well” said John “I be a farmer, back ‘ome in Zomerzet (Somerset) in England, and on my farm I do grow the best apples, from which I make the best apple juice in the world, which is wonderfully refreshing on a hot zummerz day mind, oohh arrr that it is, and you all be welcome to drink as much of it as you like.”

Marty thought it was great to make such good friends and that he could have some excellent adventures visiting all of his new friends.

After many hard hours of trekking up the side of the mountain, Manolito reached the top of a peak and called the others to hurry up and to come and see what was on the other side.

The four adventures rushed to the top of the peak and Manolito exclaimed.

“Behold the lost city of the Inca’s Macho Pichu!”

“Wow “shouted Marty in awe of the buildings below

“Awesome” exclaimed Andy.

C’est fantastique” agreed Jean Pierre
“Well stone the crows that be zum zite” muttered John.

Manolito then quickly led the four adventurers down into the city, where they could run around the old pathways, looking in the old buildings and imagine what it would have been like to be an ancient Inca tribesmen living in such a wonderful city high above the clouds.

As they were looking over a wall into one of the old buildings the four adventurers were startled by a large flapping sound above their heads, as a large bird landed on the wall next to them.

Andy, John and Jean Pierre all got quite a scare and jumped back in shock at the site of such a large bird.

“Hakuna matata” laughed Marty “It’s only Carlos the curious condor”

“Hola” said Carlos “I am always curious about who is visiting the lost city”

“You are always curious about everything Carlos” laughed Manolito

Andy, John and Jean Pierre introduced themselves, Carlos then shouted “adios” and flew off into the sky high above Macho Pichu.

After taking lots of photographs and properly exploring the lost city, it was time for Marty and the others to start the long trip down the mountain.

It was a long climb down the mountain and Marty was very tired by the time they had reached the bottom and there was just enough time to say goodbye to the rest of the group and a big “asante sana” to Manolito for guiding him successfully and safely to Machu Pichu and back down again, before he had to set off to the airport to catch a plane home to Africa.

On the plane Marty thought to himself that the trip had been a great adventure and he was delighted to have got to see Machu Pichu, learned to paraglide and had made some very good friends in Manolito, Andy, John and Jean Pierre.

But Marty was very glad to be going home to Africa as he missed his little house in Nairobi, his motorcycle and most of all he missed Gillian.

Marty was also sure that once he got back to Africa there would be plenty of more adventures waiting for

Marty the motorcycling giraffe.

Marty the Motorcycling GiraffeStory 30 Marty visits Peru part 1 Marty and Pedro the Paragliding Llama

Marty the Motorcycling Giraffe

Story 30 Marty visits Peru part 1 Marty and Pedro the Paragliding Llama

Marty woke up this morning in a very excited mood, He is excited because he is about to go on a very thrilling adventure.

Today Marty is flying to Peru (a country in South America) to go and see the lost Inca (old south American people) city of Machu Pichu, which was built high in the mountains above Peru.

Marty packed all the things he is going to need on the trip into his rucksack made one final check of his passport and aeroplane tickets and set off for the Airport.

Marty was very pleased to see that his friends, Peter, Gloria, Emmanuelle and of course Gillian were at the airport to wave him off.

“Kuchukuna huduma, na safari njema” (take care, have a good trip) Whispered Gillian into Marty’s ear and she gave him a little kiss on the cheek.

“Kwahari” shouted all the others as Marty set off for the plane.

It was a long flight to Peru, and Marty passed the time by reading books about the lost city of Machu Pichu.

When he arrived Marty stayed the first night in a hotel in Lima, the capitol city of Peru. Lima is a very big and busy city which Marty found very exciting, but sadly he didn’t have much time to explore the city.

“I must go to bed nice and early” he thought to himself “to make sure I get enough rest, before starting the long hard climb in the mountains to reach Machu Pichu”

It was quite a long bus ride to the beginning of the climb and because he is so tall Marty had to sit with head and neck sticking out of the bus’s window.

At the bottom of the climb Marty was introduced to his mountain guide (Manolito) and his fellow climbers, John from England, Andy from the USA and Jean-Pierre from France.

“Hola, bienvenida Peru “ (Hello and welcome to Peru) Said Manolito to the all the climbers and then he told them all about what to expect on their hard trek up the mountains to the lost Inca city of  Machu Pichu. Manolito made the expedition sound very exciting and Marty couldn’t wait to get started on this new adventure.

The first day of the climb, was very difficult as the slopes up the mountain were very steep indeed, but the four climbers all followed Manolito’s lead and soon they reached the spot where they would camp for the night.

While they ate their dinner that night (twigs and leafs for Marty of course) the four climbers talked about how exciting it will be to get to see the lost city of Machu Pichu.

They all listened intently when Marty told them about all of his thrilling adventures

“Oh la la!” excalinmed Jean Pierre “I have never heard of a Giraffe riding a motorcycle or seen one climb a mountain before”

“Well I do like to have adventures” laughed Marty in response.

Soon it was time for the climbers to go to their tents to get some sleep before the next days climb; as usual Marty had to lie down with his head and neck sticking out of his tent and fell asleep counting the stars in the night sky.

Everyone was up very early the next morning as soon as they had finished their breakfast, Marty, John, Andy and Jean Pierre set off following Manolito up the mountains slopes.

After a few hours they stopped by some large rocks to have some lunch (yes you’ve guessed it, Marty had a big bag of twigs and leafs.)

While they were eating they could hear a group taking very excitedly in Spanish, from the other side of one of the rocks

Marty stretched his neck up to look over the rock to see what all the excitement was about. And there on the side of a very steep cliff stood a bunch of Llama’s.

“Jambo” said Mary.

“Hola Hola” shouted back the Llamas

“What are you doing?” asked Mary.

“Ware putting together Pedro’s paraglider” shouted one of the Llamas

“Pedro? Paraglider?” asked Marty

One of the Llamas (who was wearing a strange sort of crash helmet) stepped forward “Hola” he said “I am Pedro the worlds only Paragliding Llama”

“Jambo” replied Marty “I am Marty the motorcycling giraffe, from Kenya in Africa

Pedro told Marty all about paragliding and how exciting it is to be able to fly above the mountains.

“Wow!” said Marty “I’d love to have a go at that”

“Well I have a spare paraglider, we could go for a fly now, if you have time” replied Pedro.

“That would be ok” said Manolito, who had been listening to Marty and Pedro talking “we are well ahead of schedule and everyone could do with a rest while you are paragliding”

“Ok let’s go then” shouted Pedro “but watchout for Carlos”

“Carlos? Whose Carlos?” asked Marty?

“Carlos is a condor (very large South American bird); he is a very curious condor, who often flies too close to the Paragliders, which can be quite dangerous” replied Pedro

Pedro and Marty strapped on their Paragliders and moved to the edge of the cliff.

“Geronimo” they shouted as they leapt off the cliff into the air and soon they were powergliding above the hills in Peru.

“Wow this is fantastic” shouted Marty “I told you paragliding was fun” Laughed Pedro in reply.

Then suddenly Marty saw a large shape in the sky.

“Look out its Carlos, Hola Carlos” shouted Pedro

Carlos was very curious to see who was paragliding wit Pedro and flew very close to Marty to get a better look.

“Whoa” shouted Marty as he nearly crashed into Carlos; he then started to spin out of control.

Marty was quite scared as he thought he was going to crash his paraglider.

“Hold on Marty” shouted Pedro “pull on the controls until you set yourself straight”

Marty followed Pedro’s instructions and after a bit of struggle, Marty managed to get his paraglider under control.

“Lo sianto, adios” (sorry, goodbye) squawked Carlos as he flew off high in the sky.

Mary and Pedro then landed back on the side of the cliff they took off from.

“That was fantastic and a little scary” said Marty “asante sana Pedro”

“No problemito” Laughed Pedro

Marty then said “kwahari” to Pedro and the other Llamas and rejoined the rest of the climbers, to carry on the hike towards the list city of Machu Pichu.

Andy, John and Jean Pierre were all very impressed with Marty’s paragliding but by the end of the day they were all very tired and quite happy to get into their tents for an early night.

As Marty lay down in his tent (with his head and neck sticking out of course) he thought about the  exciting day he has had and wondered what other adventures this trip would bring for

Marty the Motorcycling Giraffe.

Look out for the next adventure for Marty in Story 31 Marty goes to Peru part 2 Marty and the lost city of Machu Pichu
